This is a fully funded scholarship for African students who want to do their master’s degree (postgraduate studies) in areas like:

Scholarship Benefits

If you are chosen, you will get:

  • Full tuition paid for 2 years

  • Monthly allowance of 144,000 Japanese Yen (about $11,420 per year)

  • Free airplane tickets to and from Japan

  • Health insurance

  • Extra time (up to 6 months) for internship or more study

  • Help with research or thesis (if needed)

  • Preparatory courses (like computer or language classes) may be covered too


Who Can Apply?

To apply, you must:

  • Be from an African Development Bank member country

  • Be 35 years old or younger

  • Have a Bachelor’s degree in one of the required fields with good grades

  • Have at least 1 year of paid work experience in Africa

  • Not be working or living outside your home country

  • Not already be studying for a master’s degree

  • Not be working for the African Development Bank or have close family who does

  • Promise to return home and help your country after your studies


 What You Need to Apply

To apply, here’s what you should do:

  1. Choose a university that is a JADS partner

  2. Contact the university for application forms and steps

  3. Apply to the university for the master’s program

  4. If you are selected, the university will send your name to the African Development Bank

  5. The bank and Japan team will choose the final winners

  6. If you are picked, you will get an official message from them

  7. No need to apply directly to the bank – just go through the university!
