    Who Can Apply?

    To apply, you must:

    • Be from one of these West African countries:
      Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Togo, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Saint Helena.

    • Have lived in one or more of these countries for at least 5 years in the last 10 years.

    • Be between the ages of 18–24 (some older students may apply if they are studying medicine, law, or finished school later).

    • Have a first-class degree or top grades from your university.

    • Be ready to study at Oxford and have leadership qualities.


    What the Scholarship Covers

    If you win the Rhodes Scholarship, you will get:

    • All school fees paid (100% free tuition)

    • £19,800 per year to cover living costs (about £1,650/month)

    • Free flights to and from the UK

    • Free visa and health insurance

    • Application fee for Oxford covered

    This scholarship is one of the oldest and most respected in the world, helping future leaders grow and succeed.


     Documents You Need to Apply

    Get these ready before applying:

    1. Two documents to prove your age and nationality. You can use:

      • Birth certificate

      • National ID card

      • Passport

      • Voter’s card

      • A sworn statement (affidavit)

    2. University transcript – shows your school grades

    3. Proof that you’ve lived in West Africa for 5 out of the last 10 years (like school records)

    4. English language test results (e.g., IELTS or TOEFL)

      • OR you can ask for a waiver if your school taught in English

      • You’ll need to write a short letter explaining why you don’t need the test

    5. All documents must be in English. If they are not, add a translated copy.
